since four triangles was founded to release material from previously unheralded artists working in the space between house, techno and vintage rave, it seems fitting that the label’s second release should come from an analogue explorer still making his way in the world.
you may have stumbled across jonas friedlich’s debut solo 12”, a thrillingly forthright collection of hardware workouts that slipped out, unheralded, on molten moods late last year. we think the five tracks showcased here offer an extended glimpse in friedlich’s distinctive musical vision.

label honcho bloody mary returns to the helm for the 34th release on dame-music, two original tracks knockout and no feeling is final are backed with a huge remix from none other than berghain resident, label boss & renowned producer marcel fengler. alien electronics, ominous pads and a heavy dose of acid craft unmistakably analog cuts that tread the line between electro and techno. ‘knockout stretches across the a-side, a pulsating, incessant acid line snakes its way about the raw 909 drums, tweaked and breaking in a series of hat and crash rolls reminiscent of classic chicago joints. on the flip, marcel fengler masterfully re-imagines knockout in to a driving percussive, workout, subtly adding and removing elements into a hypnotic, frenetic cut worthy of the dance floor. finally, no feeling is final slows the pace, haunting metallic strings rise and fall between twisted circuitry, an emotive number that could just as easily warm the crowd early as it could jerk tears at close. dj support: marcel dettmann laurent garnier maceo plex / maetrik kiki bpitch control orde meikle erol alkan luke slater jonas kopp chris liebing richie hawtin monika kruse james zabiela

jonas friedlich, better known through mistress recordings and carl gari, releases his first solo 12- on molten moods. the versatile 4 track ep starts with the rather straight -bo s breakfast- that begins with a polyrhythmic 303 bass line leading into a catchy garage-ish chorus, kicking in out of a clear sky but fittingly. -bus driver- is a wicked trip, the combination of the long acid build up and a nicely chopped vocal bit is irresistible. a proven, tested (and molten moods certified) club banger, regardless of its rather untypical breakbeat. track number 3 called -praise your name- aces groove through perfectly cut vocal samples and a fancy reference to 90s hip hop and drum n bass aesthetics. the next and last piece on the record is the eponymous -deskjet-, which is inspired by friedlichs conceptual sound art installations using printers. here rather restrained synthie lines are underpinned by a powerful kick and psychedelic tape delay noises. the 12- vinyl is handstamped on both sides. mastered and cut by scape mastering. artwork by paul bernhard.

rivulet records are continuing their release just where the compilation at the beginning of the year left us. again bringing 4 artists together on one release shifting between dusty, mellow house and some how twisted techno. peonies from russia, who has been releasing tapes on his own label „summer night“ since 1 year, sets the mood for the record with his track „soft light“ which sounds almost like a dim, fading memory of a club night full of classy house records. the rework by ital, the head behind „lovers rock“ from new york, builds up the mood in a complete different, driving and technoid atmosphere. the b-side is the first cooperation between two very old friends, berni from trier and jonas palzer from berlin, both part of portray records. their tracks are playing with the same kind of hauntology as the a—side, building up a sound that is familiar and distant in the same way - referring to old records by boards of canada as well as to the contemporary sound of „house“ at its best meaning.

jonas saalbach & samuel fach present their -vital signs- as the third vinyl release by auditive. this track literally drags you into a beautiful outstanding soundscape. driving on one hand and deep on the other hand, -vital signs- definitely invites to swing a leg. a so called -banger- comes from the british producer and dj third son, with a top-notch hypnotic and straight remix. to round up this wonderful ep, mira & chris schwarzwalder enchant you with their very individual interpretation of the original and put some extra magic on top.

foam fangs could be a term used to describe silks preferred take on that too-easily dismissed 70s dancefloor dementia of disco – the soft bite, love nibble, mirrorball on steady/ready perma-revolve. jesse reiner (jonas reinhardts first mister, alongside past/part-time collaborators like phil manley of trans am and damon palermo of mi ami/magic touch), who never quite had the kranky krinkle of his ohm-ambient labelmates, travels head-on, tomorrowland-style, through long-form cosmic moroder constellations of >foam fangs<. nothing frothy about it, though there is a bit of the rubbery in reiner’s bounce-about, cool, funky kraut-disco. suddenly we are beaming back to a time when the world looked forward, envisioning a 21st century decked with silver, chrome, and neoprene. it is a sonic space both transparent and shiny, the metallic ding and cold ribbon of data, scrolling through infinite space. the opener, >foam fangs<, transports us instantly into an ever-expanding universe of sound and light at once fanning out and folding in on itself. variations on that theme continue as the jonas journey oscillates through the beat-beyond.

when saints go machine are a danish four-piece consisting of nikolaj manuel vonsild, jonas kenton, simon muschinsky and silas moldenhawer. after the release of their critically acclaimed fail forever mini-album in february of this year, they present to you the fail forever remix ep. the remixes on the ep are coming from the pan-american electronic masterminds of nicolas jaar, alejandro mosso and blakkat, who themselves have brought about an astonishingly beautiful collection of music over the past 12 months. the collaboration between when saints go machine and these three exceptional producers has culminated in the outstanding ep that lies before you.

london-based thomas feriero, aka avatism, didnt buy his first vinyl when he was ten years old, nor was he born out of the love of two underground jazz musicians. he had an extremely dull and standard childhood and can barely play the drums. yet somehow, he is able to formulate techhouse tracks that are classy and artful while remaining dancefloor-functional.
